Our Favorite Barbecue Sauce Recipe Picks

You can use our proven homemade barbecue sauce recipes and call them your own! All are easy, simple, and have tons of flavor, and are made with basic ingredients you probably have in the cupboard.

There are thousands of BBQ sauce recipes out there, but... we like to keep the barbecue sauce simple, delicious, and not interfere with the wonderful flavor of our best barbecue sauce picks.

We never cook with any barbecue sauce. Period. Our barbecue method is traditional barbecue; low heat, slow and with hardwood smoke. We believe that, "Barbecue is the Mystical Communion of Fire, Smoke and Meat".

Great barbecued meat is it's own reward. The sauce should do nothing more than enhance that experience.

Barbecue sauce is generally served warm at the feast, to enhance the wonderful "make-your-tongue-want-to-beat-your-brains-out" flavor of your backyard barbecue efforts!

These are not "new" recipes, but rather they are tried and true interpretations we have found to be the favorites of our backyard grazers!

The secret to a successful barbecue sauce is to compliment the rub you used with the same basic ingredients. Check out our Dry Rub Recipes page. Follow our free barbecue sauce recipe, heed the advice in the rub secrets page, and enjoy the accolades from all!

American Barbecue Sauces are Regional!

American barbecue has evolved since the early 17th century from the diverse immigrant population that emigrated from the British Isle, Ireland, Spain, Africa, etc. Each historically settled in different regions of North America, and contributed their method of roasting meat over an open fire with spices most familiar to the homeland.

Barbecue sauce recipes are an amalgamation of several hundred years of these methods, and remain fundamentally regional i.e.; Alabama, North Carolina (east/west), South Carolina (north/central/south), Kansas City (Missouri/Kansas), Memphis (Tennessee) and Texas. All great!

We have enjoyed all of them, but here's our top choices, so pick a region and try their unique barbecue sauce with one of our barbecue recipes, for your backyard barbecue masterpiece!
